On January 7, 2020, TENT Ministries, Inc. was on the ground when a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck the island. The team responded promptly, bringing relief items such as blankets, food, and supplies to the affected cities including Yauco, Penuelas, Guanica, Ponce, and Guayanilla.
On February 20, 2020, TENT Ministries, Inc. returned to the island with 500 backpacks filled with emergency kits and hand sanitizers plus other supplies to revisit the most high-need areas and provide aid as well as spiritual care for families and individuals struggling as a result of the natural disaster. ON-GOING PUERTO RICO RELIEF EFFORTS!

TENT Ministries was on the ground just 4 weeks after the devastating 2017 hurricanes and has been invested in the long term recovery of the island ever since, providing hundreds of medications, free medical clinics with licensed professionals, thousands of water purifying tablets, sneakers, and toys, as well as food and supplies, to high need areas throughout the island over the past year. They have also been hands-on in rebuilding initiatives throughout the island by partnering with local organizations, helping residents to repair their roofs and homes and assisting in demolition and clean up, with the ultimate goal of restoring hope for the people of Puerto Rico.
As part of the on-going commitment to the long-term recovery of the island and it's residents, TENT Ministries, Inc., originally a local non-profit organization from Brooklyn, NY, has officially established itself in Puerto Rico as a registered non-profit organization with boots on the ground. The TENT School of Ministry in Rio Grande, PR, allows TENT to carry out the purpose of helping residents recover physically, spiritually, and emotionally as well. The TENT School of Ministry is a 2-acre property in Puerto Rico containing a missionary home that can accommodate over 30 volunteers at a time, comfortably, in order to continue steady, on-going relief efforts on the island. The school serves as an educational facility to teach men, women, and youth about community outreach, missions, and humanitarian work. It also serves to connect volunteers with much needed resources and organize rebuild and outreach initiatives to address the problems plaguing the island and ensure that Puerto Rico is not forgotten after the 2017 hurricane left the island in a crisis. Repairs and rebuild initiatives are required in order to secure the facility and ensure that it can continue the mission for decades to come. We are requesting the help and support of knowledgeable volunteers and licensed professionals to help the school stand in excellence so that we can continue to serve the island in excellence. Between the months of July and August 2019, TENT will host groups of volunteers to continue missions throughout the island and on the campsite. SUMMER MISSIONS 2019!
MEET THE TEAMS!
TEAM WEPAThis team was the first of the summer! They were able to accomplish many outreaches, including medical clinics, sneaker distribution, and children's outreaches, visiting places like Vieques, Patillas, and Fajardo. They also got their hands dirty, helping in clean-up initiatives at the TENT School of Ministry!

TEAM QUENEPAThis team was the first to experience baptisms in the river Espiritu Santo in Rio Grande through the TENT School of Ministry! They humbly served in clean-up and rebuild efforts at the school and in Fajardo. They were also able to conduct outreach in Patillas, distributing school supplies and snacks to families in low income areas.

TEAM YUCATeam Yuca got to work right away. Besides helping fix up the campsite, Team Yuca was able to help with distributing school supplies to children in a secondary school in Rio Grande to over 400 students as well as to a special needs school.

TEAM BATATAThis fun-loving group of volunteers from Staten Island danced their way into children hearts, performing fun fitness routines and distributing school supplies in schools throughout Rio Grande and Loiza. They also helped with clean-up efforts at the school as well as the young women's refuge in Fajardo.

Our mission teams spent one month on the island for Summer Relief. Amongst the many projects the teams undertook, some included clean-up, demolition, rebuild, sneaker distribution, food distribution, and of course, prayer!

Jason and Lilly dedicated their entire 2018 summer to missions. Putting aside their personal agendas, they set out to serve the island of Puerto Rico for the span of a month, hosting two missions groups between June 19 and July 18. Though much work remains to be done on the island, the pair remains hopeful that they soon will return with more supplies and more resources for the task at hand!

Meet Team Coqui!
Team coqui came ready to work! From cooking for the community in Loiza and serving the children of Patillas to clean-up in Isabela, this group enjoyed every last bit of their mission and served the people of Puerto Rico in excellence! With sadness in their hearts they retreated to life in the states, but they also brought back with them a new found passion for missions!

Meet Team Cucubano!
Despite the hard work that lay ahead of them, Team Cucubano was not discouraged by the size of the task but rolled up their sleeves and got straight to work! With clean-up and demolition in places like Fajardo and Isabela, and outreaches in Adjuntas, this team did it all from moving rubble to finding the right fit for a child just in time for school.

We are looking to raise $50,000 for phase 2 of the project to continue payments on the missionary home and begin repairs as well as continue long-term relief plans throughout the island. PR Missions with TENT Ministries!
Between January 1, 2018 and August 31, 2018, TENT Ministries, Inc. spent $24,194.42 on local and global outreaches. Of this amount, $11,265.48 was directed specifically towards Puerto Rico relief. That accounted for 47% of all year-to-date expenses.
In January of 2018, TENT Ministries, Inc. visited the island to help bring over 20,000 purifying water tablets, prescription and OTC medications, medical treatment by a Family Nurse Practitioner, and hundreds of sneakers to dozens of municipalities throughout the island, with a follow-up visit occurring shortly thereafter in February. Furthermore, TENT Ministries dedicated an entire month to summer relief between the months of June and July, bringing two teams of 6 out to labor and help with rebuild efforts on the island.

PUERTO RICO MISSIONS
2017 Puerto Rico ReliefOn October 9, 2017, TENT Ministries traveled to Puerto Rico provide relief after Hurricane Maria ravaged the island. In an organized community effort, we were able to help collect and ship over 83.000 pounds of supplies, food, and water to the island. We were also able to fly with 26 representatives of local North Brooklyn organizations to hand deliver hundreds of bottles of water to grateful souls. During this time we were also able to better assess the needs on the island as well as the best methods for distribution of goods.

Puerto Rico Fundraising Initiatives
PR Fundraising Dinner- April 2018On Saturday, April 14, 2018, TENT Ministries, Inc. hosted a Puerto Rico fundraiser to help raise funds for continued relief on the island. World Boxing Champions Luis Collazo and Carlos Quintana came out to show their support and sign autographs. There was live music, free food, awesome performances, and most importantly, there was a group of passionate individuals who saw a need and decided to make a change by contributing to the mission!

Cuts for PR FundraiserOn Sunday, November 19, 2017, TENT Ministries partnered up with The Cut Gallery as well as several wonderful hairstylists from Mimi's Braids and Strandaddict.com to host a Puerto Rico Relief Fundraiser at 606 Bushwick Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11206. The stylists volunteered their time and offered up $10 cuts and $10 braided styles. The event raised more than $1400 to go towards current relief efforts underway by TENT Ministries, Inc!

Luis Collazo Joins the Initiative!
Luis Collazo has partnered up with TENT Ministries to bring relief to Puerto Rico. On Friday, October 6, 2017, Collazo raffled the uniform he wore during his boxing match with Victor Ortiz at the Barclay Center in 2014 to one of the lucky contributors who made a donation through his website, www.collazohurricanerelief.eventbrite.com. One hundred percent of the proceeds went straight to TENT Ministries for Puerto Rico relief. Collazo has vowed to continue his support towards our relief efforts and looks forward to visiting the island himself along with the missions team soon. Luis Collazo is 37 and 7, former World Champion from Brooklyn, NY and is ranked 4th in the world.

Hurricane Harvey ReliefTEXAS, US
On Thursday, September 14, 2017, TENT Ministries was proud to be able to contribute over 130 cases of bottled water towards the Texas relief efforts in partnership with the NYPD and Patrol Borough Brooklyn North. These waters were shipped out on Friday, September 15, 2017 in addition to the other 700+ cases collected by the precinct. Wow, what we can do when we come together!
